2014XC: Day 25, July 6 – Boulder City, Nevada (Lake Mead/Callville Bay) to Las Vegas, Nevada

Nothing on the agenda today except to go to Las Vegas. We had checked out two places that we wanted to visit in Las Vegas, and then we figured we’d find a campground once we got around there. So we packed up and headed out. It was only 20 miles away from Lake Mead so we had a lot of the day left. We found a campground about 10 miles outside of Vegas called Sam’s Town. It had a pool and a hot tub, so the kids were super happy. We hit the pool for a few hours. Gabriel had been using floaties, but today he wanted to be brace and try to swim without them. I stuck right by him and he did awesome! A little later on, we headed into town.

The first place we wanted to see was “Counts Kustoms” from the show “Counting Cars” on the History Channel. Yes, this was a happy time! And I really enjoyed it too – they really put together some sharp cars and some creative things.

It seems that when the film crew isn’t there, they convert the place into this showroom with some of the cool things they’ve made. We’ve watched the show since going there – it’s fun to see the same place and point out things that we remember. Next stop on the agenda, the pawn shop of “Pawn Stars”, on the same channel. We like to watch this one too. It’s interesting to see the different items of financial value people will bring in, and the guys of the shop are pretty comical. The place looked much smaller than we expected, and of course the actors weren’t there, but it was still worth the trip. The pic with
Morgan near the coins – one of the coins were labeled a “Morgan” coin….hence the pic!

It was still too early to see the lights of Las Vegas, so we stopped at a “Del Taco” for dinner and went back to the camper for some more swimming.

A good storm came in with a crazy downpour. When it passed, I took a few pics of the palm trees right outside our camper and the hotel with it’s cool lights not far from us.

Sweet dreams!
