2018XC: Day 1 and 2, June 12 -13, Pennsylvania to West Virginia

Note to self: the best time to write a blog while traveling is while you are actually traveling! Somehow this all got away from me, and now here I am in 2025, attempting to go back a recall this trip from memory…good luck with that.

We left Pennsylvania later in the day than we usually would…perhaps someone had to work? Ahh..the sweet yesterdays where plans never had to revolve around children’s schedules. Those are days long gone… just the year of this trip alone, Morgan and Naomi had their last Prom, they graduated from High School and were prepping for college, and Tyler was taking his Senior Photos. Now that I think about it, that’s probably why these last seven years were a blur.

Back to the trip: the anchor this time was a Perry/Howard Family Reunion in Kentucky. Generally there would be an annual family reunion, but every four years there was an extended family gathering. So off we went from Pennsylvania.

Or first stop was at the Pine Hill Campground in West Virginia for the night. Getting to the campsite was a little sketchy – it seemed like we were going through a neighborhood dirt backroad, making a left at the end of the road on what seemed to be someone’s driveway. However, the campsite did turn out to be cozy and enjoyable for the short time we were there. And with Christians’ shenanigans, it felt just like home.

It was a beautiful morning. We were excited to get back on the road to our next stop – Kentucky.

After fueling up and few good miles under the belt, we hit a rest stop for lunch…

See you tomorrow at the Howard Reunion!
