2014XC: Day 18, June 29 – Capital Reef NP, Utah (Thousand Lakes RV) to Glendale, Utah (Bauer Canyon RV)
The popular route going from this campground to Bryce Canyon was Route 12. 100% WORTH IT!!! I shot off about 120 pictures just on the drive through – it was amazing! It was like a roller-coaster…up a mountain, down a bit, in a valley, through a plain, up again, along a cliff, back down through a canyon…it seemed like every corner we turned the landscape changed again.
We stopped for ice cream in a small town…
The short drive through Bryce and Red Canyon was nice too.
We were hopeful for some water to swim in, but the campground didn’t have a pool.
We tried to go out for dinner to pass some of the time, but by the time we arrived and got hooked up it was around 7:30. It was also Sunday night, so we figured the possibility of finding something would be slim. Add the fact that this was a really really small town. We were told to go to “Buffalo Bills” to eat, so we headed over. It was closed when we arrived with a sign saying, “CLOSED. Sorry – ran out of food”. Yeah, that’s a pretty small town. I can’t remember what town – wished I’d taken a pic, but the population was 10. Wow – now that’s a small town!
