2016XC: Day 15, June 29 – Port Aransas, Texas to San Antonio, Texas
CampSite: Gulf Waters RV Resort –to– San Antonio/Alamo KOA
On our last morning here, we woke to a heavy rainstorm. But it wasn’t long before the storm passed and left two beautiful rainbows behind. Steve and Gabriel and I quickly dressed and headed out to the beach to make the most on the beach with the last few rental hours of our golf cart.
On the way out to the jetty again, we saw some more cool stuff – an old tree buried in the sand, an abandoned shack…
and a small sea turtle! (actually there were two swimming together, so maybe there were eggs somewhere?). Can you see it?
Gabriel had the time of his life driving, and we enjoyed the ride…
We left the resort and took a ride south of the island down to Padre Island. There was primitive camping there that we had considered prior to the place we stayed at, so we thought we’d check it out before leaving…
We planned to stop for lunch just before leaving the island…
We were on our way next to San Antonio. Absolutely love these crazy Texas storms! We drove right into that opening of what seemed like a curtain of rain…
We stopped at the San Antonio/Alamo KOA campground, enjoyed dinner, then headed over to the River Walk in downtown San Antonio. What a cool place!!!! The city was on ground level, and just below was a contained river bordered with shops and restaurants and verandas, with barge rides up and down the river.
It was really special at night, and we planned to return in the morning to visit the Alamo. I looked forward to getting some better pictures of it during the day tomorrow.
