2014XC: Day 17, June 28 – Moab, Utah (Arches) to Capital Reef NP, Utah (Thousand Lakes RV)
Steve and I got up early and let the kids sleep while we took a quick look at the rest of Arches. It was only an 18 mile loop through the park and we already did half of it the night before anyway. It turns out that the park is really about hiking it, so you can’t see much from your car. We chose a short trail to a the popular “Landscape Arch”. It was worth seeing, and even though it was hot, I wished we could have had a little more time there.
Back to the campsite to cool off in the pool with the boys. I think this was the kids favorite campground. I liked the pool/hot tub combo, and the surrounding red cliffs of Moab were really nice too.
On our way to Capital Reef National Park…
It turned out that the entrance we came into at Yellowstone, with respect to where the campsite we reserved was located, it worked out best to drive through the park to get a feel for whether we would go back and check it out. So we planned to drive through Capital Reef, and we took a few pics just in case…
Thousand Lakes RV Campground was nice. Little shade tree at each site and warm but breezy. We could see the red cliffs of the park from the grounds. And pretty much as long as there is a pool, the kids give it a thumbs up.
Lots of stars visible every night, even the milky way… What a beautiful creation we are blessed to inhabit.
