2014XC: Day 22, July 3 – Grand Canyon, Arizona (Mather Campground) to Seligman, Arizona (Rte. 66 KOA)
Another beautiful morning – thankful for the devotion time while in one of God’s beautiful creations.
Leaving the campground, we stopped at one of the last Scenic Points of the Grand Canyon that we hadn’t already stopped at.
Back on the road.
Our campsite was on Historic Route 66. It was out in the open desert, with just a few shade trees. Still hot, but they had a really nice pool. We swam for a bit and I did some laundry. We went out to eat at a local and highly recommended “Westside Lilo’s” for the food and atmosphere. The town and most of the stores and places to stay reminded us all of the movie “Cars” (in case you don’t know, the movie mostly took place in a “route 66” area). We asked our waitress about the history, so she told us a bit. We enjoyed the restaurant and the atmosphere!
Before heading back to our camper, we drove around town and took some pics of memorable stuff.
We got back to our campsite and the clouds were stirring.
We went into the camper and watched the movie “Cars”. The night sky was awesome, and I got a decent shot of the night sky with the stars but it’s hard to see and of course nowhere as cool as the real thing (I’m just posting it here to have it up for myself).
I wish I could have gotten a night-shot for the freight trains that came by about every 20 minutes. I never minded trains at night anyway. Glad we stopped here to stay.
