2014XC: Day 32, July 13 – El Reno, Oklahoma to Spadra Lake, Arkansas

I should add how many miles we went each day just for the record. I don’t remember how we did today, but our plan was to get to Little Rock but we didn’t make it (I somehow missed the “Welcome to Arkansas” sign). Not too big a deal because we’ve always been blessed with the place we land at for the night. We stopped at the visitor center and picked up some RV and other camping/activities info. As we were driving, we were going through the pamphlets hoping to find a place with a pool but we were’t having much luck with RV parks and pools. We had already passed a KOA so our next option was somewhere on Lake Dardanelle. There were lots of state parks so we thought to give one a shot. We drove to “Spadra Lake” – what a gem! It was beautiful and it was on a river. One side of the park had a boat ramp, but the rest of the park that was against the river was about a 20ft or so cliff so there was no swimming. We were still happy to be there – there was only electric hookups, so we filled up the camper with water and picked a spot near the playground. It was a treat to be right on a river. Once it got really dark, it was loud with all the bugs, and there were lots of mosquitoes or something so it was better to stay in the camper, but regardless it was a cool place to camp.
