2014XC: Day 37, July 18 – Mammoth Cave, Kentucky (JellyStone) to Lexington, Kentucky (KHP)
The best thing about JellyStone? Checkout was at 11:00, but we were welcome to park on the side of the road after checking out and continue to use the waterslide or pool until 3:00. It doesn’t get much better than that.
We finally left at 1:30 because they closed the waterslide. It started drizzling about an hour before that, so it wasn’t hard to get the kids rounded up to leave anyway. It rained the rest of the drive. It was getting to be around dinner time, and Tyler had been begging Steve that if we could have Kentucky Fried Chicken while we were in Kentucky. The only campsite we could locate was the Kentucky Horse Park/Campground just 10 minutes from a local KFC, so that sealed the deal for Tylers request. The Horse Park was top shelf – it was a complex for horse riders/competitors and such. We filled up with water and then chose a site with only electric. We parked and setup and then Steve and Tyler went to get dinner. 🙂
It continued to rain into the evening, so we just played some card and dice games. Good connecting time.
