2014XC: Day 38, July 19 – Lexington, Kentucky to Mountwood Park, West Virginia
Kind of glad that it was cloudy and cool this morning. The Kentucky Horse Park/Campground we were staying at had an Olympic-sized pool, but we didn’t go swimming because of the weather. Sometimes I think it’s good when the weather isn’t favorable, because then I don’t feel like I’m missing anything. 😉
Back on the road. Rainy drive all the way and into West Virginia. Steve’s phone routed us in some weird direction, not sure why, and we lost about an hour. The route was kind of cool – along the Ohio River instead of Interstate 64 – but it was still a little frustrating to not be as far along as we thought we would be. Anyway, we passed some barges on the Ohio River, and further up we saw some smokestacks up close, and they were actually pretty cool looking…
We weren’t finding much in the way of campgrounds of the phone GPS. So we see a sign for camping, something thats not showing on the GPS, but we figured it was God’s provision for our night. It was a county campground, and it was pretty nice. We had electric and water, and we were right up against the woods. So we set up, cooked some dinner, had a campfire, and reminisced about the cross country trip.
Last night of our trip… 🙁
