2016XC: Day 5, June 19 – Auburn, Alabama to Pensacola, Florida

Campsite: Auburn RV Park at Leisure Time Campground –to– Pensacola Beach RV Resort

One place we all agreed upon as a definite stop for the trip was any beach in Florida, preferably Gulf Coast. So on a tip from a fellow camper in Auburn, we headed to Pensacola. We lucked out with a site for one night in the Pensacola Beach RV campground, situated on Pensacola island. The campground was on the bay side, but there was only one road that went down the middle of the island, making for a very short walk to the beach.  There was a small pool at the resort, but it’s basically a beach resort.   We set up the camper and went straight for the beach…

After sunset, we headed back to the campsite, anticipating a good seafood dinner at one of the many restaurants in walking distance.

Just about 15 minutes down the road, we settled on a restaurant called “Flounders”.  Really cool place – lots of atmosphere, opened up to the bay with a long dock extended out over the bay.  Food and service were great -certainly wouldn’t hesitate to eat there again!

And we end the evening with Gabriel on a carousel horse that was stuck in the sand!
